Description : Selenite cystine broth is a selective is a selective enrichment medium that may be used for the cultivation of Salmonella from specimens harbouring mixed microbial flora. It is recommended for testing food products for Salmonella contamination. It is also used in clinical microbiology for the cultivation of faecal specimens. Sodium selenite, the selective agent, inhibits the growth of faecal streptococci and is moderately inhibitory to growth of E. coli, particularly during the first 8-12 hours
