Description : A selective and differential medium for isolation of Salmonella and Shigella species from pathological specimens and foodstuffs. Coliforms and gram positive cocci are suppressed by the action of bile salts and brilliant green while differentiation is based on the fermentation of lactose with the corresponding absorption of nature red.
