Description : A selective medium for the isolation of Listeria. Columbia agar base is the nutrient base to which selective inhibitors are added. Lithium chloride is used to inhibit enterococci and acriflavine inhibits some Gram-negative and Gram-positive organisms. Further selective agents added are colistin, fosfomycin, cefotetan and cyclohexamide. Aesculin is included as a differential indicator.
